Here’s an example of how I worked with our UX designer and Product team to tweak copy for a user flow, and a glimpse at my thought process.
We’re using Figma to chat about the button copy. I prefer to avoid “Let’s Do This” as a CTA because it lacks specificity, doesn’t convey any real value, doesn’t usually match a user’s actual thought process / internal dialogue, and doesn’t address user needs. It feels like a big leap to assume the user would instantly commit to purchasing this product after reading only a brief description, and seems more likely a user would think, “Hm, I wonder what’s on the menu.” (Note: There was no user data available at the time of this discussion.)
So I suggested we change “Let’s Do This” to “See Menu” or “Tell Me More,” both of which seemed a good match for potentially curious users who would likely want that information before purchasing.
